Boxing star Deontay Wilder is used to leaving bodies on the floor and so might his latest venture… the dance floor that is, after swapping life in the ring for the music studio.
After taking a year off from boxing following his savage defeat to Tyson Fury in October 2021, Wilder has turned to the world of music and has now released his first single. Along with his stunning fiancee Telli Swift and his brother Marsellos, the single ‘Everytime’ dropped in the summer but now has its own music video.
Sharing his work on Instagram, he posted a snippet of the official video along with the caption: “Here’s a snippet of my official video for my new single. Everytime ft. Marsellos Wilder.” However, not everyone has been left convinced…
One brutal critic replied: “I’m sorry to be negative but don’t quit your day job bro. This is…. [picture of a bin].” Another wrote: “For the love of God, stick to boxing.” And a third posted: “This ain’t it chief.”
But not all the reviews were so damning and there were a fair few listeners who enjoyed Wilder’s new direction, with one saying: “This is so unreal. I hope this song blows up. This is the next level fr fr.”
And another said: “Banger, like his right hand, well done Deontay.”
Even British boxer and WBO cruiserweight champion Lawrence Okolie was involved when someone tagged him in a tweet replying to a post of the video, when he said back: “Next ring walk sorted.
“Wilder recently returned to the ring for the first time since his defeat to Fury with a first-round knockout against Robert Helenius – nearly a whole year after his Gypsy King bout. There has been talk that the Bronze Bomber could face Anthony Joshua next, who is also looking to repair his reputation after two losses to Oleksandr Usyk. (DailyStar)
