The Lagos State Police Command told yesterday of how a desperate asylum seeking Nigerian begged to be declared wanted to enable him procure a visa to travel abroad.
The desperate Nigerian allegedly approached the Lagos State Police Commandโs spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, pleading โdeclare me wanted.โ
Hundeyin shared his encounter with the unnamed person on his X account.
His narration: โโPlease, declare me wanted!โ I was stupefied. I blinked and looked at him again. โWhat did you say,โ I asked.
โPlease, I want you to declare me wanted,โ he repeated.
โWhy do you want to be declared wanted,โ I inquired, amused.
โActually, I am applying for asylum at XYZ embassy. During the interview, I told them that I am being persecuted to the point of being declared wanted by the police.
โThey now asked for evidence of the โwantedโ declaration. I can easily do the artwork but I know they will come and verify. That is why I want it from the source.โ
Many Nigerians have been trooping out of the country under the โjapa syndromeโ with many citing the economic and security situation in the country. (Nation)
