In commemoration of International Women’s Day, Mavin boss Don Jazzy hosted over fifty women in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The maiden edition of the conference which was themed, ‘Mavin Women’s Day Soirée’, held on the open-air rooftop of the Ebonylife place on Victoria Island, Lagos.
The organisers explained that the event is to promote women’s unity, celebrate their achievements while giving them a chance to advance their careers.
“Mavin Records aimed to further ingrain its philosophy of gender equality in the entertainment industry while encouraging the women working and making a difference in the industry,” Don Jazzy said.
In her remarks, the company’s Director of Operations, Jennifer Imion said Mavin Records stands out for its posture towards giving women an opportunity to lead.
“Today is important because the person sitting behind you right now is proof that there is really nothing women can’t do. That person, like you, deserves to be celebrated,” Imion said.
Continuing she said, “Famed for its 100% female directorate and a workforce made up of over 47% female, the label stands as an example of the excellence that can be achieved if women are given the same opportunity as anyone else to dream and to build.“Every year, we will come together to reflect on how much we have achieved despite the odds. We will gather to give ourselves a deserved pat on the back for the great work we continue to do for the advancement of entertainment in Nigeria and in Africa.” (Nation)
