The PUNCH’s correspondents, who monitored many parts of the two states on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, reported that the flood caused by incessant rain, claimed lives and destroyed homes and property.

3 Okada robbers arrested in Lagos (PMNews)
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, have arrested three suspected okada robbers in Ikorodu area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
The suspects, Emmanuel Michael, 24, who rode on a motorcyle, in company of two other accomplices; Moses Ogeh, 27 and Ojonugwa Ojomeje, 29, were arrested in Ita-Maga area of Ikorodu after hijacking a motor bike popularly called ‘okada’ from a cyclist while impersonating police officers.
Two of the suspects: Ojomeje and Ogeh were caught in MOPOL vest and police vest and fez cap while trying to escape after collecting an ‘okada’ from a rider in Ikorodu. Read more
Northern governors, elders, others move to end Jukun, Tiv crisis (Guardian)
The Northern Governors Forum (NGF), elders and community leaders have perfected plans to ensure peaceful coexistence between Jukun and Tiv communities of Taraba State before the end of the month.
A communiqué issued in Abuja after a two-day conflict resolution meeting of the NGF, elders, and leaders of both communities, revealed that no fewer than 300 youths would be trained on conflicts resolution and management techniques.
The communiqué was signed by President of Tiv Community, Goodman Dahida, Spokesman of Jukun Community, Daniel Emmanuel Angyu and Chairman, Tiv/Jukun Conflict Reconciliation Committee, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman. Read more

Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has reinstated six lawmakers suspended in 2018 by the Fifth House of Assembly of the state and also ordered payment of their salaries and emoluments.

Robbers behead policeman, guard in fuel station attack (Punch)
Some armed robbers late on Saturday attacked the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation mega station in the Asa Dam area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The robbers were said to have during their operation beheaded a police sergeant and a security man at the station.

More than 110,000 people are taking part in search and rescue operations after Typhoon Hagibis struck Japan on Saturday.
The typhoon – the worst storm to hit the country in decades – has left at least 31 dead, with 15 missing.
Typhoon Hagibis also caused the cancellation of three Rugby World Cup matches but the key match between Japan and Scotland went ahead.

Kurds reach deal with Damascus in face of Turkish offensive (Guardian)
Kurdish-led forces in control of north-east Syria have reached a deal with the Assad regime to stave off a bloody five-day-old Turkish assault, as more than 700 people with links to Islamic State have escaped from a detention camp in the area.
Kurdish fighters controlling the region would surrender the border towns of Manbij and Kobane to Damascus in a deal brokered by Russia, officials said on Sunday night. Read more

Kenya’s Brigid Kosgei eclipsed the 16-year-old women’s marathon world record held by Britain’s Paula Radcliffe as she retained her Chicago title.
The 25-year-old recorded a time of two hours 14 minutes 04 seconds, easily inside Radcliffe’s mark of 2:15:25 set at the London Marathon in 2003.
