Buildings have collapsed and people have been evacuated in the Thai capital, Bangkok, after earthquakes in neighbouring Myanmar.

The epicentre of the quakes was near the city of Mandalay, according to the United States Geological Survey.

Three people have died in Bangkok after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake today, the Thai defence minister has said.

Phumtham Wechayachai said the deaths were confirmed at the site where an under-construction high rise collapsed.

He added that 90 people were also missing but offered no updates on the ongoing rescue efforts. (Skynews)
