Convicted drug traffickers forfeit bus, N3m bribe to FG (Punch)
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has convicted Okechukwu Umeh, Lanre Adebayo, Adigun Adeshina and Emmanuel Omijeh, who were arraigned on three counts bordering on drug trafficking.
This is just as they forfeited the Federal Government the bus they used in conveying 532.8Kg of the Loud variant of cannabis on the day of their arrest and the N3m bribe they offered operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Ogun ex-permanent secretary, wife found dead in Lagos home (Punch)
The family of an ex-permanent secretary in Ogun State, Adefemi Egbeoluwa, and his wife, Oluwafunmilayo, have been grieving after their lifeless bodies were found at their residence around Allen Avenue, in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the couple were at home with their domestic worker on the day of the governorship and state House of Assembly elections when some yet-to-be-identified persons invaded the premises and killed the couple.
After perpetrating the crime, the suspects reportedly attacked the domestic worker, beat her till she lost consciousness, and fled. Read more
Election: 11 arrested for criminal offences in Lagos (Punch)
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of no fewer than 11 suspects for various criminal offences during the 2023 general elections in the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, while parading the suspects at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, on Tuesday, said eight of the suspects were handed over to the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission for prosecution.
He also noted that the remaining suspects were prosecuted by the command, adding that exhibits including Permanent Voter Cards, Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machine, ballot papers, weapons and charms, among others, were recovered from the suspects. Read more
Lagos musician, friend kill BDC operators, guard arrested (Punch)
A musician, Collins Etaredafe, aka Top Boy, has gone into hiding after allegedly killing two-yet-to-be-identified Bureau-De-Change operators at his residence in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that Etaredafe, who was with a yet-to-be-identified friend, invited the BDC operators into his apartment under the guise of changing some dollars.
Following their entry into the building on Saturday, March 18, 2023, it was learnt that the BDC operators were allegedly killed and their corpses dumped in a drainage located at the front of Etaredafe’s residence. Read more
Lagos husband arraigned for wife’s death (Punch)
A 37 year old auto dealer, Ikechukwu Ogbonna, aka IVD, was on Monday arraigned before a Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja over the alleged manslaughter of his late wife Abimbola, who died in a fire incident at their residence in the Lekki area of the state.
The defendant was arraigned on one count of involuntary manslaughter in suit No LD/21055C/23 preferred against him by the Lagos State Government.
The prosecuting counsel, Adeshola Bello, told the court that there was a mix-up in the date the alleged offence was committed. Read more
Man in court for stealing N7.9m from company (Punch)
A 39-year-old man, Anthony Okafor, has been arraigned before the Ogba Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State, for allegedly stealing N7,900,000 owned by a company, Chemarome West Africa Limited, in the Ojodu Berger area of the state.
Anthony, who was arraigned before Magistrate O.A Ogunjobi, is facing one-count bordering on stealing preferred against him by the police.
The police prosecutor, John Christopher, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in the Ojodu Berger area of the state. Read more
Lagos court remands freight agents for N14.4m fraud (Punch)
A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos State, has ordered the remand of freight agents, Obinna Nwaokporo, Ayomide Olaiya, and Ejiro Omojevwe, for allegedly defrauding a company, Flem Viotad Nigeria Limited, owned by one Ayoade Mojeed, of N14.4m.
The defendants, who are facing three-counts of conspiracy, stealing, and conversion of funds, were arraigned before Magistrate P.E Nwaka on Friday.
It was learnt that Nwaokporo and others presented themselves as fright agents who could provide logistics for clearing and shipping a naturally occurring mineral dust known as Mica, often used in makeup foundations, as filler in cement and asphalt, and as insulation material in electric cables, to China for processing and were paid N1m as part payment. Guard steals N1m diesel from Lagos company (Punch)
A 31-year-old man, Kehinde Hassan, has been arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing diesel valued at N1m from his employer in the Somolu area of Lagos State.
Hassan was arraigned before Magistrate P.E. Nwaka on Friday on two counts of stealing preferred against him by the Lagos State Police Command.
The defendant, who confessed to having been stealing from the company since January, said he used to fill two 25-litre kegs with diesel and sell them to a Hausa man outside their office every Sunday when he was on weekend shifts for N15,000 or N19 000. Read more
38-year-old man steals N2.4m tricycles (Punch)
A 38-year-old man, Offiong Edet, has been arraigned before the Ogba Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State for allegedly stealing two tricycles worth N2.4m in the Agege area of the state.
The tricycles are said to belong to a man, Jepter Chukwuma.
Offiong who was arraigned before Magistrate O.A Ogunjobi, on Wednesday, is facing two-count bordering on theft preferred against him by the police.

1.2m Pills Of Tramadol seized as NDLEA intercepts heroin consignment at Lagos Airport (Independent)
No fewer than 1, 205, 260 pills of opioids were seized in two interdiction operations in Kogi and Gombe states by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), just as anti-narcotic officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, disrupted the activities of a drug syndicate that operates among Nigeria, East Africa, and Europe, with the arrest of two members of the cartel.
A statement by Femi Babafemi, the agency’s spokesman, said the operatives at the Lagos airport had on Monday, March 13, intercepted a member of the drug syndicate, Ejezie Vitus Ifeanyi, during screening of inward passengers on Ethiopian Airlines flight from Malawi via Addis Ababa at the arrival hall.
“When a search was conducted on him, it was discovered that one of his two bags had a false bottom concealment. During preliminary interview of the suspect, he confessed that a member of the syndicate was waiting at the airport carpark to pick him. An immediate follow up operation led to the arrest of Chukwu Franco Bright, who was waiting in a grey colour Mercedes Benz C180 coupe, marked EKY 973 GQ to receive the drug consignment. Read more

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have intercepted 2.7kg of cannabis concealed in dried onions which was to be exported to Dubai through a postal firm.
According to the anti graft agency, no fewer than 1, 205, 260 pills of opioids were seized in two interdiction operations in Kogi and Gombe states.
The spokesperson for the anti-narcotic agency, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday also revealed that officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos, disrupted the activities of a drug syndicate that operated between Nigeria, East Africa and Europe. Read more
Thugs prevent non-indigenes from voting in Lagos, injure many (Independent)
Thugs popularly known as area boys have prevented many non indigenes from casting votes in Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assembly polls in Lagos State.
Daily Independent investigation revealed that thugs carrying dangerous weapons such as guns, cutlasses, bottles, daggers and horsewhips stormed several wards and units, forcing voters, particularly non-indigenes whom they suspect would not vote for a particular candidate to vacate the scenes.
It was gathered that so many people were beaten up and wounded, while others went back to their various homes without casting their votes due to fear of being attacked. Read more
Electronics dealer abducted, released in Lagos (Independent)
A few days before the gubernatorial election in Lagos State, Timothy Uche a famous businessman, who deals in all types of electronics, was kidnapped in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State.
Mr Uche was abducted last Friday around 9:30 p.m. in the Iyana-Ejigbo area after the day’s business activities.
Eyewitnesses told Credible News that a gang of four gun-trotting men kidnappers shot sporadically at the front and back of his car before dragging him out and whisking him away to an unknown destination. Read more
Justice for ‘‘Ekwulobia 4’’, court orders IGP, AGF to pay N400m compensation (ThisDay)
After more than twenty years of painful mourning, justice finally came to families of four Ladipo Traders, who were extra-judicially killed by Policemen in 2001, as Justice Olufunke Sule-Amzat of a Lagos High Court sitting in Yaba, ordered the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney-General of the Federation to pay N400 million as compensation to families of four traders.
The four traders Anthony Ezenwafor, Chukwuemeka Ezeofor, Izuchukwu Ezeama, and Aloysius Osigwe, popularly Known as the Ekwulobia Four, because they hail from Ekwulobia, Anambra State, were traders at Ladipo International Auto Spare Parts market before they were killed by Policemen attached to Surulere Division on July 21, 2001, extra-judicially.
The trial Judge, while delivering judgement last Thursday in the fundamental rights suit filed on behalf of the deceased by human rights activists, Akaraka Chinwe Ezeonara, Chris Okpara, Remigus Ezenwane and Ifeanyi Okoye, ordered the Police to pay the family of the deceased N400 million as compensation. Thugs injure 7, loot properties in Lagos community (Nation)
Seven persons yesterday sustained injuries, while properties including cars were vandalised after armed thugs attacked residents of Abule Ado, a community in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area (LGA) of Lagos.
Among the injured were said to be people returning from church and those who were attacked in their homes.
They were said to have suffered gunshot, machete injuries inflicted on them by the hoodlums who operated with reckless abandon. Read more
