Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice will appear at the Central Criminal Court- a.k.a. Old Bailey- on Monday.
Though their hugely anticipated plea and trial preparation hearing was originally scheduled for last Monday, October 31, but as reported by The Guardian last Sunday, it was postponed due to what a court staff described as non-availability of counsel for Sonia,” the couple’s sickly adult daughter.
“They’re all in on Monday,” an Old Bailey member of staff disclosed on Friday, while also stating that Sonia too is now a co-defendant in the alleged case of payment for organ harvesting for which the former second senator in Nigeria and his wife were arrested on June 23.
Though Mrs. Ekweremadu has, afterward, been granted bail and was in the dock when their case was last heard on August 4. However, the husband appeared via video link from his prison.
The senator and his wife are being charged together with Dr Obinna Obeta, for wanting to make payment for the procurement of organ for their daughter, Sonia, through one David Nwamini. (Guardian)
