The 8th Annual EMY Africa Awards is set to kick off with an exclusive Soiree in Lagos, Nigeria, marking a special prelude to the prestigious awards ceremony.
This year, EMY Africa is paying homage to its Nigerian awardees and nominees with a splendid gathering at the elegant Mercedes Benz showroom in Victoria Island on Sunday, August 13, 2023. The event promises to bring together industry leaders, dignitaries, and influential personalities from various sectors.
Founded by Mr. Kojo Soboh, the EMY Africa Awards aims to honour exceptional African men and personalities for their outstanding contributions, remarkable achievements, and positive impact across the continent. The event also includes complementary awards that celebrate women challenging conventions.
“EMY Africa Awards is the catalyst that inspires greatness in all of us,” said Soboh at a recent Lagos briefing.
“We celebrate greatness to inspire greatness. Representation matters; when we celebrate successful Africans. It is more relatable and gives youths the permission to dream, dare and do.”
Latasha Ngwube, the project’s lead PR, expressed enthusiasm for the Lagos Soiree, saying, “The essence of this pre-EMY soirée in Lagos is to bring people together and extend its impact to other African countries starting with Lagos, the centre of Excellence. We are driven to inspire excellence and demonstrate to our young men that there is more to life than the negative aspects.”
This exclusive gathering will spotlight outstanding achievements, foster connections and ignite inspiration among the next generation of leaders.
Specifically, it is to celebrate past Nigerian awardees and present nominees.
This year, two Nigerian actors, Tobi Bakre and Chidi Mokeme, have secured nominations in the Actor of the Year category.
The EMY Africa Awards main ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, October 14, 2023. Fans can engage by casting their votes on the Awards’ website (www.emyafrica.com) or interacting with their favourite actors’ posts on the official Instagram page (@emyafrica).
