Since filming for “The Flash” movie wrapped, Ezra Miller has made headlines for multiple legal disputes. Now, Miller is speaking out and apologizing for their erratic behavior.
The 29-year-old, who is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns, got their start in indie cinema with roles in 2012’s “Perks of Being a Wallflower” and 2008’s “Afterschool,” eventually saw mainstream success in 2016 playing Credence Barebone in the Harry Potter “Fantastic Beasts” franchise and as superhero speedster Barry Allen in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
But recently, Miller has garnered attention for different reasons.

In March, Miller was arrested in Hawaii for disorderly conduct, and in April was arrested again on suspicion of assault. In June, Miller was accused of grooming an 18-year-old activist by the teen’s parents.
Here’s what we know about Miller’s recent scandals.
In a statement obtained by USA TODAY Monday, Miller said that they are undergoing treatment for “complex mental health issues” following their recent string of scandals, including arrests, felonies as well as assault and abuse allegations.
“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” they said. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”
At Warner Bros. Discovery quarterly earnings call on Aug. 4, which revealed some major changes for HBO Max and Discovery+, CEO David Zaslav named “The Flash” film as one of the upcoming projects he’s excited about.
“We have some great DC films coming up: ‘Black Adam,’ ‘Shazam! (Fury of the Gods)’ and ‘(The) Flash.’ ” he said. “We are very excited about them. We’ve seen them. We think they are terrific and we think we can make them even better.”
He also confirmed that Warner Bros. would shelve the nearly completed “Batgirl” movie because of quality concerns. “We’re not going to release a movie unless we believe in it. And that’s it,” Zaslav said.
Yes. Miller is slated to star in Mary Harron’s biopic “Dalíland,” scheduled for a Sept. 17 release, according to IMDb. Miller is set to play a young Salvador Dalí, a Spanish surrealist artist.
In an interview with Vanity Fair on Aug. 31, Harron spoke about Miller’s recent scandals and working with the actor. She shut down rumors that Miller was allegedly cut from the movie’s final version and added that she’s “not condoning anything they’ve done wrong.”
“I think it doesn’t matter how talented someone is, if they’ve done anything wrong, they have to face it,” Harron said. “I also think that clearly this is not just a young star acting out. This is much more serious.”
Harron also said “Dalíland” had “completely finished and wrapped” by the time Miller’s scandals went public. But “it might have been different, especially if we were shooting if there had been bad behavior during that.”
“There was no trouble or a sign of trouble on set,” Harron added. “So it was very upsetting and terrible to read what happened later. Reading this stuff was very sad — very sad for everybody involved. Hopefully they are getting help for what sounds like a very, very serious break.”
