The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has disclosed plans to increase tariff of all service providers across its airports. The authority has also said it would stop collecting cash at all payment points as part of its efforts to boost revenue generation.
FAAN revealed that 92 percent of its revenue comes from aeronautical sources, while only eight percent is generated from non-aeroneautical sources, while other developed countries in the world generate over 40 percent from non-aeroneautical sources. This narrative, it said, would chart its transition to an automated and contactless system of payments across its payment points across various airports.
Speaking during the Directorate of Commercial anatness Development (DCBD) Stakeholders Engagement Forum on Monday at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja Lagos, Adebola Joy Agunbiade, director, commercial and business development, FAAN said, โWe have to find the means to review our tariff in such a way that itโs not too much on you but itโs also helping us to pay our bills.โ She assured that FAAN would notify service providers early enough before implementing the tariff increase.
