The Ogunmokun family of Akure, Ondo State, has issued a quit notice to the Federal Government, the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure (FECA), as well as several businesses occupying a disputed parcel of land within the college, following a Supreme Court judgment that affirmed the familyโs ownership of the land.
The family, in the notice signed by its head, Michael Ajayi, and secretary, Gbenga Ajayi, demanded that the occupants vacate the land immediately.
The disputed parcel of land is home to the college, multiple filling stations, several shops, and the Benin Motor Park, located along the Akure-Owo-Ilesha Road.
The legal tussle began when Justice Adegboyega Adebusoye of an Akure High Court ruled in favour of the Ogunmokun family, declaring them the rightful owners of the land. Read more

The collapse occurred about “six miles south of the response address, which is the sole tunnel access,” LAFD said.

A ruling expected this week by the highest chamber of the European Court of Human Rights could reignite champion runner Caster Semenya’s long-standing legal battle against sports authorities over sex eligibility rules that banned her and other women from top competitions, including the Olympics and world championships.
If a panel of judges upholds a 2023 decision by the same court in Semenya’s favor, it would put renewed scrutiny on track and field’s rules requiring some female athletes to suppress their natural testosterone levels to compete, and open a legal avenue for the regulations to be struck down.

Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti has been sentenced to a year in prison by a Spanish court for tax evasion – but he will not have to serve time in jail.
The former Chelsea and Everton boss was accused of failing to pay 1m euros (ยฃ830,000) in tax on his salary during his first spell in charge of Real Madrid from 2013 to 2015.
He will avoid prison but does have to pay a fine of 386,361.93 euros (ยฃ333,045.92).
