President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Nkiru Balonwu to the Board of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
The appointment of the Board members, who will oversee the selection of a new Managing Director for the organisation, was announced on Thursday in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
Other members of the Board are: Muhammad K. Ahmad (Chairman), Chief Henry Okolo, Imamudden Talba, Ambassador Usman Sarki, Ali Haruna, Engr. Simeone Atakulu, Zubaida Mahey Rasheed, Dr Mustapha Abiodun Akinkunmi and Engr. Oladele Amoda.
Also on the TCN Board are Representatives of Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Ministry of Power, Bureau for Public Enterprise, FGN Power Company Limited, and Executive Management of TCN. Balonwu is the founder and chair of African Women on Board (AWB), an independent, African women-led non-profit organisation focused on advancing narratives to improve realities for women and girls of African heritage. Also founder and managing partner of RDF Strategies, a consultancy firm that provides advice on strategic communication and stakeholder engagement, she is the recipient of many awards.
