The federal government of Nigeria, through the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), yesterday launched Institute of Space Science and Engineering to boost research findings in space.
Other projects commissioned include, National Space Museum, Planetarium Building, Space Incubation Centre, Sports Complex and Space Environment Laboratory.
Speaking at the Commissioning in Abuja, the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, said the institute, which is an affiliate of Pan-African university would be awarding up to PhD degrees in various areas of space science and technology.
“This Institute is of tremendous importance and it ought to be a research institute whereby they will be doing continuous research so that whatever they will be teaching their students will not just be what is in the textbooks but on the basis of research findings.” Read more
