NGcom Network Solutions Limited, an internet service company, has donated free internet facility to the Lekki Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to help in enhancing management of road traffic and reducing crashes on the highways.
Unit Commander of FRSC, Lekki, Assistant Corps Commander Sani Abdullahi, on Tuesday, commended the company for its goodwill to the corps and Lekki command in particular in Lagos.
Abdullahi said the donation was in response to a call to support the FRSC for better road safety management, seeing that the year 2022 was fast coming to an end.
He assured the management of NGcom that the command would make the best use of the free internet facility through staff capacity development programmes.
Abdullahi said that the facility would also lead to improved communication with the FRSC headquarters, stakeholders and members of the public, for improved service delivery.
He enjoined other service providers to take a cue from what NGcom did, by identifying areas to support the command.
Abdullahi said that the challenges of road traffic management within Lekki-Epe expressway could not be tackled effectively without joint efforts of stakeholders.
“What NGcom has done is the best way to go in tackling the challenges of road safety, and I want to call on other stakeholders to key into the call for partnership,” he said.
The Unit Commander said the partnership was central to effective traffic management and crash reduction in the FRSC’s 2022 strategic goals.
The General Manager, NGcom Network Solutions, Mrs Helen James-Ejiashi, presenting the facility, said the choice of the FRSC command was borne out of the good works in areas of traffic management and public enlightenment programmes.
She said that the move was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to give out to the communities from where it operates.
“Since the FRSC command has been serving the Lekki community well, it behoves us to support it with facilities that can make it perform even more diligently, for improved services to the people.
“We have carefully observed what the personnel have been doing on the road and we took the decision to provide our own support through the provision of dedicated free internet services to the command.
“We want everyone to join hands with the FRSC in the campaign for safer road environment, because road safety is a shared responsibility,” she said.
