Former Bayelsa Military Governor Olubolade dies suddenly at 70

Former Military Administrator of Bayelsa State, Navy Captain Omoniyi Caleb Olubolade (rtd), passed away on Sunday, May 11 in Apapa, Lagos State.

The Ipoti-Ekiti-born former governor, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday on November 30th, 2024, reportedly slumped while playing lawn tennis.

According to a joint statement released by his first daughter, Mrs. Oluwayemisi Akinadewo, and first son, Mr. Dayo Olubolade, efforts to revive him at the scene and subsequently at Obisesan Naval Medical Hospital proved unsuccessful.

Olubolade held several prominent positions during his distinguished career, including Minister of Special Duties, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Minister of Police Affairs.

Details regarding his burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
