Aggrieved members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, yesterday passed vote of no confidence in their zonal chairman, Prof. Olu Olufayo, over alleged meddlesomeness in the affairs of FUOYE.
The lecturers, under the aegis of Forum of Concerned Academics (FCA), while vowing to defend the image of the institution, alleged that Olufayo had continually engaged in actions capable of destroying it.Led by the chairman, Prof. Sola Omotola, and spokesman, Dr. Wasiu Alli, the FCA told newsmen in Ado-Ekiti yesterday that the press conference organised by the zonal chairman was aimed at destroying the institution.
Apart from declaring the zonal chairman persona non grata, the teachers also dissociated the local branch from the press conference held in Akure, Ondo State, recently where “unfounded allegations” were raised against the management of FUOYE.
“The elements of blackmail and falsehood in the press conference included the claim that the university management deducted pensions from staff but failed to remit it to appropriate pension administrators, recruitment of professors without PhD and extortion of science students. Read more
