Police summon Kano gov candidate over alleged murder (Punch)
The police have summoned the Kano State Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Mallam Sagir Takai, over the alleged murder of a 70-year-old man. Confirming the development to Northern City News on Sunday, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Magaji Majiya, said the command had commenced investigation into the alleged case of homicide allegedly involving the PDP candidate and some of his supporters. 20 feared killed in Edo cult clash (Guardian)
More than 20 persons have been feared killed in different parts of Benin City and its environs in a renewed clash between rival cult groups. An ad-hoc worker of the Edo State-owned Public Work Volunteer, whose identity could not be confirmed, was killed at his duty post at the popular Third Junction in Benin City. The killing caused pandemonium as traders and commercial bus drivers scampered for safety. At Iyobosa Street, off M.M. Way, the cult gang killed a rival gang member at about 1:00p.m. yesterday. Suspected robber arrested five days after release from prison (Punch)
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a robbery suspect five days after he was released from the Ikoyi Prison. The suspect, Tunde Okunola, 26, was reportedly arrested in Marwa Roundabout, Lekki, along with an accomplice, Segun Adigun, 27, while trying to rob one Gift Omini around 4.45am on Wednesday. Man, 23, arrested in Niger over alleged sodomy (Guardian)
A 23-year-old boy, Adamu Mohammed, of Korokpan village in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State, has admitted to engaging in anal sex with six under-aged boys, aged between 10 and 12. The police acting on a tip-off arrested the suspect while trying to escape to an unknown destination. The Guardian gathered that sometime last month, one Yusuf Buhari, of the same address reported to the police that Mohammed lured his son, Luka Jonathan, 10, into his room and had sexual intercourse with him through the anus.
