The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has announced its intention to host a prestigious business luncheon on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Abuja Continental Hotel (Old Sheraton). The event is scheduled to commence at noon.
In an official press statement issued by Mr. Remmy Nweke, the Publicity Secretary of GOCOP, the luncheon is designed to foster an environment conducive to networking and interactive engagement between GOCOP members and influential figures in the media management sector. The guest list includes media managers from both the private and public sectors, corporate organizations, state and federal government representatives, ministries, departments, agencies, and advertisers.
According to Nweke, “All image and perception managers, including chief press secretaries, commissioners for information, corporate communications professionals in parastatals, ministries, agencies, financial institutions, manufacturing, and service sectors, along with advertising and public relations practitioners, are expected to grace this event.”
Furthermore, the luncheon serves as a testament to GOCOP’s dedication to collaborating with major stakeholders in the public and private sectors, as well as international agencies.
In preparation for this year’s GOCOP annual conference, themed “Nigeria: Roadmap for Socio-Economic Recovery and Sustainability,” a series of activities have been meticulously planned. Distinguished figures from various sectors, including politics, civil society, security, judiciary, and media, have confirmed their participation.
The 7th annual conference, scheduled for October 5, 2023, will be chaired by Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Notably, Prof. Uche Uwaleke has been appointed as the keynote speaker.
Esteemed panelists for the conference include Prof. Yakubu A. Ochefu, Secretary-General of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU); Hajia Hadiza Bala-Usman, Special Adviser to the President (Policy Coordination); and Mr. Johnson Chukwu, Chief Executive Officer of Cowry Assets Management Ltd.
GOCOP has a history of hosting prominent speakers at its annual conference, including Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, Mr. Boss Mustapha, and Professor Mahmood Yakubu in previous years.
Established with the mission of ensuring online publishers uphold the principles of journalism, GOCOP boasts a membership consisting of distinguished editors and senior journalists who transitioned from traditional print and electronic media into the realm of online publishing, reflecting the evolving landscape of global journalism. Presently, GOCOP counts over 90 corporate publishers among its esteemed members.
