The grieving father of a 27-year-old Daniel Ayama, also known as Cruzie Vibes, whose life was tragically cut short under mysterious circumstances in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, has broken his silence, calling for justice.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday May 16, 2025, has left Yenagoa residents in shock and mourning. It was gathered that Cruzie was a student of Federal University Otuoke and a popular artiste in Yenagoa,

In an emotional interview, Mr. Ayama described his son as a “promising young man with dreams and aspirations,” lamenting the pain of losing him so suddenly. “His life was cut short, and we deserve to know why,” he said, urging authorities to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to book. Days after a Lagos banker, Osemudiamen Idemudia, was declared missing by his family, his body was discovered at a morgue in the Yaba area of the state.

PUNCH Metro reported that Idemudia, who worked in the Point-of-Sale department of a commercial bank in the Ikota area of Lagos State, was last seen on the evening of May 9 in the CMS area of the state.

A relative of the deceased, who identified himself simply as Segun, however, told our correspondent on Wednesday that the corpse was discovered on Sunday during a desperate search across hospitals and morgues in the state. Read more

Padding: NASS, BudgIT disagree over N6.93trn projects in Budget 2025 (Vanguard)

The National Assembly and a civic organisation, BudgIT, yesterday disagreed over insertion of 11,122 projects worth N6.93 trillion into the 2025 budget.

BudgIT had alleged that the lawmakers padded the Appropriation Bill with the projects it described as not in alignment with the Medium-Term National Development Plan (2021–2025) and other national priorities.

But both arms of the National Assembly, the Senate and the House of Representatives, reacted swiftly yesterday, dismissing allegations that they padded the budget. Read more

Indian author, translator win International Booker Prize (DW)

Banu Mushtaq, the Indian writer and activist, was awarded the International Booker Prize on Tuesday for her short story collection Heart Lamp, the first Kannada-language author to win the prize for translated fiction.

The 77-year-old Mushtaq will share the £50,000 ($67,000, €59,300) prize with her translator Deepa Bhasthi, who also helped with picking the stories featured in the award-winning collection.

This marks the first time that a collection of short stories receives the award. It also makes Bhasthi the first Indian translator to win the prize in its current form, adopted in 2016. Read more

A woman who travelled around the country to complete false UK citizenship tests has been jailed for four years and six months.

A series of wigs and false documents were the tools used by Josephine Maurice, 61, as she pretended to be 13 different people in order to take the Life in the UK Test between June 1 2022 and August 14 2023, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard.

Maurice, a former bus driver and of Enfield, north London, had pleaded guilty to 13 counts of fraud, a charge of conspiracy to commit fraud and two counts of possession of another person’s identity documents.l. Read more
