Gunmen kill 7 in Benue communities (DailyTrust)
Armed invaders have reportedly killed seven people in two communities in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
Locals said that the attacks occurred on Sunday in Tse Gamber community and another settlement along Naka-Agagbe, both in Gwer West LGA.
The villagers said that while four people were killed in the early Sunday morning attack on Tse Gamber in Sengev Council ward, three persons were killed in the evening of the same day at Camp Nagi in Mbachohon Council ward, a settlement along Naka-Agagbe road. Read more
Rivers Assembly removes house leader, begins Fubara’s impeachment process (Tribune)
A fresh crisis has erupted in the Rivers State House of Assembly as lawmakers on Monday impeached the leader of the house and initiated impeachment proceedings against the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
The leader of the house, Edison Ehie was removed during an emergency sitting on Monday for alleged supervision of the burning of the Assembly Complex on Sunday night.
House Speaker, Martins Amaewhule, expressed sadness at the alleged arson claiming the incident was supervised by the Government House and Ehie from Ahoada East. Read more
NAF’s airstrikes kill 22 terrorists in Borno (Guardian)
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai on Sunday, eliminated 22 terrorists in air strikes at their identified terrorists’ hideouts and enclaves in Borno.
The Director of Public Relations and Information of NAF, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, made this known in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
Gabkwet said the air strikes were sequel to intelligence received from the Land Component that about 22 terrorists in a gun truck and two motorcycles were sighted near Marte. Read more

Ogun shuts recycling company over industrial pollution (Punch)
The Ogun State Government, on Sunday, said it had shut a recycling company, Maths Metal Recycling Limited, in the Sagamu area of Ogun State, for deliberate industrial pollution which exposed residents to danger.
The state Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, said the company was issued several warnings for polluting the environment with contaminated oil but they refused to seek caution.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the recycling company punctured a passage at the back of its premises to discharge the waste to the environment instead of installing retention tanks within the company, where the bad oil and other solvents were supported to be treated. Read more

The Lagos State Government has officially inaugurated the Eko Farmers APPEALS cooperative multipurpose society and three agro-processing centres facilitated by the Agro-Processing, Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) project to boost farmers’ productivity and ensure food security in the State.
The project supported by the Lagos State Catfish Farmers Association of Nigeria with blast freezers, deep freezers and generator sets to encourage value addition through production of frozen catfish were commissioned by the Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya.
While reiterating Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to food security in Lagos State, she also inaugurated a cottage broiler processing centre at Itamaga and an egg aggregation centre at Erikorodo, both in Ikorodu. Read more

Record 6.9m internally displaced in DR Congo, UN says (France24)
The conflict between M23 rebels and militias loyal to the DRC’s government has intensified in the eastern province of North Kivu since early October, particularly north of the provincial capital Goma.
The UN’s International Organization for Migration said many people who have fled their homes but stayed within the DRC’s borders desperately needed help to meet their basic needs.
“The IOM is intensifying its efforts to address the complex and persistent crisis in the DRC as the number of internally displaced people (IDPs) climbs to 6.9 million people across the country — the highest number recorded yet,” it said in a statement. Read more
SAG-AFTRA negotiators keep talking, but no deal reached yet (Variety)
SAG-AFTRA leadership continued to bargain with the major studios on Sunday, but despite growing optimism around the industry, no deal has been reached yet.
The union presented its latest proposal to the studios on Saturday. The two sides were said to be engaged in “productive” talks through the weekend.
One source said that on Sunday there were “tough conversations” as they have yet to resolve the thorny issues around regulation of artificial intelligence. Another said that the talks were progressing in the right direction. But it was not expected that a deal would be reached Sunday. Read more

US rock band Wheatus showed their fans ‘a little respect’ during their gig in Co Tyrone after meeting with a disability rights campaigner who spoke with the band’s lead singer about a campaign for passing a Disability Rights Bill in Northern Ireland.
The band is best known for their hit song ‘‘Teenage Dirtbag’’ and played in Castlederg’s Townhouse on Saturday. They also performed in Belfast earlier this week.

Shani Louk, 22, a German-Israeli woman who was seen being taken to the Gaza Strip during Hamas’s October 7 onslaught, has been confirmed dead, her family said Monday.
“Unfortunately we received the news yesterday that my daughter is no longer alive,” Louk’s mother Ricarda told the German outlet RTL.
Louk had been at a rave party near the Gaza border where terrorists mowed down attendees with gunfire and grenades, killing some 260 people during their October 7 onslaught. Read more
Hundreds storm airport in Russia in antisemitic riot over arrival of plane from Israel (CBS)
Hundreds of people stormed into the main airport in Russia’s Dagestan region and onto the landing field Sunday, chanting antisemitic slogans and seeking passengers arriving on a flight from Tel Aviv, Israel, Russian news agencies and social media reported.
Russian news reports said the crowd surrounded the airliner, which belonged to Russian carrier Red Wings.
Authorities closed the airport in Makhachkala, the capital of the predominantly Muslim region, and police converged on the facility. Dagestan’s Ministry of Health said more than 20 people were injured, with two in critical condition. It said the injured included police officers and civilians. Read more

Fury was forced to eat his words after the fight having compared the crossover clash to a table tennis player competing in a Wimbledon final. Marseille’s Ligue 1 match against Lyon was called off on Sunday evening after the visiting team’s bus was attacked on its way to the stadium, with head coach Fabio Grosso and his assistant Raffaele Longo “directly hit and seriously injured in the face”.
Footage on social media appeared to show stones being thrown at the OL bus, with Grosso pictured on a stretcher and with a bloodied face.
