Ren Zhengfei, the founder and CEO of Huawei, has played down the importance of Google’s imposed ban on its apps and services.
The US tech giant was complying with wishes from the Trump administration following trade hostilities with China.
But Huawei has been given a 90-day extension on the ban, which covered security updates as well as the option to pre-install apps like YouTube, Gmail and Google Maps on its devices.
Zhengfei told state broadcasters this week that the blocks would not derail Huawei’s plans for bringing out 5G technology. The famously private businessman also said that no other company would be able to catch up with Huawei and, according to Technology+News%29″>Reuters, the US government was ‘underestimating Huawei’s capabilities’.
