IGP orders detention of Policemen over death of Abuja lady (Nation)
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris has ordered the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma to detain and personally investigate the policemen who shot a lady dead in Abuja. The lady, Miss Anita Akapson was allegedly shot dead on Saturday night by policemen in Katampe Extension area of Abuja. The Force Spokesman, Ag. Ban on public procession still in force- Plateau govt (Nation)
The Plateau Government says the ban on public processions in the state is still in force. Mr. Yakubu Dati, Commissioner for Information and Communication, on Monday reminded the citizens of the ban, and warned against flouting it. Police launch manhunt for killers of cop in Bayelsa (Guardian)
The Police Command in Bayelsa has intensified efforts to fish out the killers of a police officer in the state last Sunday night and ensure that they are all prosecuted. The new Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ebere Onyeagoro, said at his maiden news conference on Monday in Yenagoa that the officer lost his life while on duty. Onyeagoro said the deceased ran into a clash between two cultic groups during which lost his life. Read more
Court orders Police to pay N10m to businessman over violation of human rights (Sun)
The Federal High Court, Maitama Abuja, on Monday ordered the Nigeria Police Force, to pay N10million as compensation to one Aondofa Shenge, for violating his fundamental human rights. The judge, Justice John Tsoho, in his judgment, also restrained the police from further arrest and detention of Shenge. Read more

Pastor absconds with N1.2m car (Guardian)
A 46-year-old pastor, Joseph Lawson, on Monday in Lagos, appeared at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, charged with the theft of a car valued at N1.2 million. According to the prosecutor, ASP Clifford Ogu, the accused committed the offence on Oct. 1 at Oko-Oba, Lagos. He said that the accused ran away with a car belonging to Mr Chikwukadibia Udeh. A Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Monday sentenced 18-year-old Abdulkudus Shuibu to three-month imprisonment for buying a stolen Nokia cell phone. The convict, a resident of Nyanya, Abuja, had pleaded guilty to a count of dishonestly receiving and purchasing stolen property and begged for leniency.
