The Ikoyi Club 1938 re-opened its doors to esteemed members as of 7 am, Monday, August 17.
The club’s Chairman, Abayomi Orenuga, made this known in a statement he released on the club’s Instragram page Monday titled “Re-opening of our dear club”. Orenuga, who was thankful to members for their patience and understanding while the club was shut to help stem the spread of the novel COVID-19 coronavirus in the country, explained that the General Committee (GC) met and came to the decision to re-open.
“The General Committee met yesterday and discussed, among other matters, the state of our readiness to re-open our club in line with the recent announcement made by the state government and the requirement to meet the protocols outlined by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC),” said the statement.
Orenuga, who said that details to be observed when on the club’s premises will be announced shortly, reminded members that the Lagos State Safety Commission (LSSC) issued Ikoyi Club a compliance certificate to enable it begin recreational activities when it came visiting in June.
“Please continue to keep safe while we look forward to receiving you back to the club,” Orenuga stated.
