Nigeria’s teenage golf sensation Georgia Oboh has joined the elite league member of Ladies European Tour as the first and youngest Nigerian to achieve such feat.
In a field of 115 players competing at the Ladies European Tour Qualifying School Finals in Morocco, Oboh returned scores of 78/73/70/72 to finish among the top 60 players that will compete in Thursday’s finals at the Amelkis Golf Club in Morocco.
The Edo-born golfer started her professional career with a win at the Ivory Coast Open in November and with her performance in Morocco, she has set the pace for young Nigerians to aim at in sports.
“I am happy my dream of starting my career on the European Tour has become a reality. This will surely give me the opportunity to play with the best in the world. I thank God, I am grateful to my family and supporters for their prayers and encouragement since I started this journey. The first day was full of ups and downs for me but I believe I played much better on the second day. It was indeed an improved outing on the third day and the final day was a bit better despite starting with the first tee-off on lake,” the 17-year-old said. Read more
