As part of its contribution to the development of the Nigerian Entertainment and Creative sector especially in the area of music, leading entertainment solutions company Inspiro Productions is organising the 1st Music Export Nigeria Masterclass. It is to empower and explore ways of getting more Nigerian artistes and musicians to see their craft as export material as is done in other countries in the world.
In a statement, CEO Inspiro productions who is also the founder/festival director of The Lagos International Jazz Festival – Nigeria’s Premier Jazz festival stated, “As organisers and producers of international events that books artistes from abroad to perform, it’s imperative at this point with our rich musical culture and its increasing global recognition and acceptance that we also prepare and get more of our indigenous and homebased musicians to get international deals, perform at international venues and festivals.
“Kudos to the ones already doing so. Music is a strong cultural expression to showcase what a country has and our musicians are invariably cultural ambassadors. We see this a lot as many acts from various countries perform on the numerous festivals all over the world but we only get to see a few representatives from Nigeria. It’s not that we don’t have international standard musicians; I believe that area hasn’t been intentionally pursued. This is also being spurred as a backdrop from a recent visit to several European countries which included Germany, France, Amsterdam & Italy and seeing firsthand how they managed their music and musicians. These all have Music Export Initiatives designed to get their music and musicians to the world stage. This is the right time to do so with Nigerian musicians through our Music Export Nigeria Initiatives and other things planned for the future ”.
