Cross-border fire involving Israeli military forces and Lebanon-based militants continued on Wednesday.
The Israeli army said it hit a location where Iran-backed Hezbollah militants were active as well as other “terrorist infrastructure.”
The army said air raid sirens had sounded in northern Israeli communities after potential rocket fire from southern Lebanon had been detected.
The Hezbollah-run television station Al-Manar reported Israeli shelling in southern Lebanon.
The station did not initially report any casualties.
Since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza on Oct. 7, there have been persistent confrontations between the Israeli army and Hezbollah.
It is the worst outbreak of violence in the border area since 2006 and has sparked fears that a second front in the current conflict could erupt. (dpa/NAN)
