A spectator at the Johnny Depp libel trial claimed to be holding the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s baby.
The defamation trial, in which Depp is suing his ex-wife Amber Heard for $500million (£400million), entered its seventh and final week on Monday (May 23) in a courtroom in Fairfax, Virginia.
During a break in Monday’s proceedings, Law & Crime reports that an unidentified woman stood up and yelled in the direction of the 58-year-old actor.
Standing up with a baby, she is reported to have said: “Johnny, I love you! Our souls are connected.”
As Depp smiled and waved at the unidentified fan, she is reported to have been approached by a deputy in the court.
This was when she held her baby aloft and claimed the Edward Scissorhands star was the tot’s father.
Following the bizarre exchange, the woman was escorted out of the courtroom and her wristband allowing her access inside the court was cut by a deputy.
The unexpected scenes are thought to have caused a stir in court, with the public gallery having to be calmed down.
It has since been reported that the unidentified woman was joking about Depp being the parent of the baby in question.
Depp is suing his ex-wife Amber Heard, 36, on the basis of a 2018 op-ed published in The Washington Post in which the Aquaman actress was referred to as a survivor of domestic abuse.
The two actors were married from 2015 – 2017. (DailyStar)
