Jose Mourinho has rejected speculation that he wants to return to Real Madrid and says he’d be open to extending his Manchester United contract.
Reports in Spain this week claimed Mourinho was Madrid’s first choice to replace Julen Lopetegui, who has made a nightmare start to life at the Bernabeu.
Mourinho spent three years in the Spanish capital before leaving in 2013 but he maintains a strong relationship with Florentino Perez, who is said to be the one touting the 55-year-old’s return.
United handed Mourinho a new deal last December to extend his stay at the club until 2020 and the Portuguese says he would be happy to stay beyond that.
‘No i am happy here,’ said Mourinho, in a press conference before United’s clash with Juventus.
‘I’m happy to see out my contract and I would like to stay after my contract. All I think about is Manchester United.’ Read more
