Commendations have trailed the return of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi 11 to the saddle as Emir of Kano, four years after he was deposed.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announced his reinstatement after consulting with the kingmakers of the Emirate Council as prescribed by tradition.
In May 2019, the House of Assembly approved the amendment of the Kano State Emirate Council Law, which paved the way for the balkanisation of the emirate. Read more

The anti-Ganduje agitators were suddenly attacked by the suspected thugs who carried sticks, destroyed their banners, placards and beat them up as they approached the APC national secretariat.
The protesters, who scampered for safety, later converged on an open location in Wuse 2, where their leader, Hamisu Suleiman Sardauna, asked critical stakeholders in the party to remove Ganduje for the chairmanship slot to return to the North-Central zone in line with the APC zoning arrangement of 2022. Muslim doctors launch N50m appeal fund for hospital projects in Gombe (DailyTrust)
The Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN) has launched a N50 million fundraising initiative aimed at completing a hospital project and upgrading its Medical Home in Gombe State.
Gombe State Chairman of IMAN, Malam Nasir Muhammad Ishaq, while briefing journalists on the projects yesterday in Gombe, said the hospitals, once completed, will function as referral centres, providing subsidised medical services to underprivileged patients, particularly those from rural areas.
He said the ongoing hospital project, located along Gombe Southern Bypass, requires N30 million for completion, while the upgrade of the Medical Home in the Tashan Dukku area of Gombe metropolis is projected to cost N20 million. Read more

A police officer attached to the enforcement team of the Jos Metropolitan Development Board has reportedly died after he was shot in Jos market.
It was learnt that the incident happened on Wednesday morning at the Terminus Market in Jos North Local Government Area where security agents and taskforce officials have been battling to clear the area of street trading in the past weeks.

Terry Williams, the Black dog walker whose home was burned Tuesday morning, told NBC News that the fire that has left him and his parents homeless came after 14 years of racist attacks.
“This has been going on since I started my business,” Williams, 49, said. “I have been called the N-word and other racist terms ever since I’ve walked my dogs or clients’ dogs in the park. At a certain point, it gets to be too much. That’s where we are now.”
The San Francisco Police Department has not identified a suspect in the fire. Previously, the department said it was investigating the sending of packages that contained racist threats against Williams to his home as hate crimes but has not identified a suspect in that case either, or whether they are related. Louisville police on Thursday released two videos of the incident that led to golfer Scottie Scheffler’ arrest last week. And officials said a detective involved in the arrest violated policy by not using his body-worn camera during the incident.
Corrective action was taken against Louisville Metro Police Department detective Bryan Gillis, officials said.
“Detective Gillis was counseled by his supervisor,” Police Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel told reporters at a news conference in Louisville, Ky. Read more
