Some football enthusiasts on Sunday in Kano, urged the Super Eagles to ensure the defeat of Cote d’Ivoire in the AFCON finals today (Sunday).
Super Eagles defeated South Africa 4-2 on penalties to secure the finals’ ticket.
The fans made the call in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Sunday.
Abubakar Musa, a bank worker said that he has confidence in the ability of the team to win the trophy.
“The host nation is not a serious threat to us, but we need to be very careful in our defence,” he explained.
Uba Sani, a teacher, said the team did not make use of their scoring chances in their last match.
Sani urged them to be more clinical in from of goal the finals.“They have to be very careful against the elephants, they cannot afford to underrate them, because they are also a good team,’’ Sani said.
Michael Okoro, a football enthusiast expressed hope that the eagles will make the country proud.
“Honestly, I am impressed with the outcome of our recent matches. I pray that they will replicate same performance today ,” he said.
Malami Zaidu, a football coach, urged the players not to relent in their level of play against the Ivorians in the final match.
Zaidu urged Nigerians to pray for the eagles to ensure that they beat the host nation today.
Ayo Azeez, a footballer said there was a need for the players to keep up the spirit in the finals.
Azeez said that he has confidence in the ability of the Super Eagles to win the trophy, considering the high spirit in the camp and good condition of players. (NAN)
