Kevin Spacey is set to appear in court on Monday 7 January where he will plead not guilty on an indecent assault charge.
The 59-year-old’s lawyers had filed a motion asking the judge to excuse his presence.
Spacey said his presence would ‘amplify the negative publicity already generated in connection with the case’ but the request was denied.
The actor stands accused of indecent assault and battery after a then 18-year-old claimed he got him drunk at the Club Car Restaurant, in Nantucket, before assaulting him.
The alleged incident is said to have lasted ‘three minutes’ back in 2016, with documents obtained by DailyMail.com stating the Oscar winner ‘unzipped the man’s fly, stuck his hands in his pants and began to rub his penis’. Read more
