Kidnapper arrested during ransom collection

Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested a suspected kidnapper identified as Roland Raymond.

The command disclosed this known via its X handle.

According to the information by the command, Raymond, a resident of Detti village, Ganye Local Government Area, was nabbed while attempting to collect ransom.

The Adamawa police also said that the 32-year-old suspect was apprehended with the collaborative efforts of hunters.

The statement read, โ€œThe Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one Roland Raymond, 32 years, a resident of Detti village, Ganye LGA, for the offence of criminal intimidation associated with kidnapping.

โ€œThe suspect was arrested following a report by Alhaji Yahaya Congo and Abraham Paul, who stated that the suspect called them via phone and demanded the sum of N600,000 risk being kidnapped.

โ€œUpon receipt of the complaints, the police in Ganye Division, in collaboration with hunters, swiftly mobilised and arrested the suspect at the point of collecting the demanded money.

โ€œThe suspect will be charged to court after investigation.โ€

This is the second time in the space of two months, that security agents would arrest kidnappers at the point of collecting ransom.

In February, troops from 93 Battalion under 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army nabbed a suspected notorious female Kidnapper, Janet Igohia in Taraba state in the same manner.

The troops said Igohia was arrested while trying to pick up a ransom paid by relatives of an abducted victim in Taraba. (Dailytrust)
