Yahaya Bello, the Kogi state governor, Monday, promised National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state N10,000 each for transport fare, and another N5,000 on a monthly basis.
It was learnt that the N10,000 is a one-time lump sum payment, while the N5,000 will be for the entire service year on a monthly basis.
Bello made this known at the Asaya NYSC orientation camp, Kabba, during the closing ceremony of the orientation course for the 2018 Batch B corps members.
Gbenga Olorunpomi, the governor’s senior special assistant on electronic media, who tweeted the information Monday said Bello also announced a personal donation of N5m to the family of an NYSC director who died on Sunday night, August 12.
The tweet read: Breaking: Gov. Bello has just announced a personal donation of N5m to the family of an NYSC Director who died last night. He also gifted all corp members N10,000 as transport allowance. Promised monthly allowances of N5,000 to all Kogi State corp members to be paid from his office.
