Popular American-based dancer, Korra Obidi, has offered insights into some of the painstaking and consequences of divorce.

In March, she divorced, a month after she gave birth to her last child.

The mother of two had accused her husband, Justin Dean of physically assaulting her.

But Dean, via Facebook live, maintained that he didn’t assault her physically but admitted calling her names.

The dancer and her estranged husband, Justin Dean, has always been at social media war following claims of cheating and domestic violence.

Via a video she posted on her platform she cried out that her children has been taken away from her for some days now and that it has left her broken.

“Don’t get divorced. It is not for the weak. Separated from your 6 months old for a whole week. I have been trying to keep my composure but last night I got broken because I saw strangers touching my child. It really broke me,” she said in a tears filled voice. Read more

A 41-year-old robbery suspect, Sunakmi Adeoye, currently cooling off inside one of the cells at the Lagos State Police Command, has revealed that he went into crime for funds to purchase baby items for his pregnant wife.

According to Adeoye, who was arrested alongside Kamurudeen Kadiri, 30, and Owoseni Adekunle, 27, “Aro got me involved in the operation after I complained to him that I needed cash to take care of my pregnant wife, and also purchase baby items as she will soon put to bed.

“He told me we were going for a robbery operation and I agreed to be part of it because he assured me that I will get money from it. I am a photographer, but I need help.”

Explaining further, Adeoye said “It was Aro that introduced me to Kamurudeen and Owoseni. I didn’t know them before the robbery operation. Read more 

Aja, Lekki, others to experience blackout as TCN begins maintenance work (ThisDay)

Residents of Aja, Lekki, Badore and other areas in Lagos state will be cut off from the national power supply system for about 12 hours daily, extending for a three-day period, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said yesterday.

The wholly government-owned entity, in a statement by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, stressed that the outage will take place between September 7 and September 9 between 7am and 7pm.

Aside Aja, Lekki and Badore, other areas which will be likely impacted by the maintenance work include Sangotedo,Jakande, Chevron, parts of Victoria Island and Agungi.

According to the TCN, the repair work will include the relocation of Egbin/Aja 330kV Line 3 to a spare Omotosho 330kV line 2 bay as well as the repair of gas leakage on one of the isolators in the substation.

“The Transmission Company of Nigeria plans to carry out maintenance work in Aja substation from Wednesday 7th to Friday 9th September, 2022, from 7am to 7pm daily.

Tinubu transformed Lagos with blueprint – APC Group (Channels)

An All Progressives Congress group, the South-West Grand Alliance For Tinubu-Shettima 2023, has said that though APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, did not found Lagos State, he transformed the state with his “blueprint”.

The group’s Executive Director, Wole Badmus, said this on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Wednesday.

“Nobody is claiming that Tinubu is the founder of Lagos. Nobody is saying that Tinubu is the person that discovered Lagos; what we are saying is that Tinubu became governor at a time when Lagos was on the brink of collapse. He became governor at a time when the infrastructural decay in Lagos was unprecedented,” Badmus said.

“We are not saying that Tinubu brought Lagos; what we are saying is that Tinubu transformed Lagos and people must face that reality,” he added. Read more

Mechanic missing in Lagos community, family panics (Punch)

The family of a 21-year-old Mechanic, Mutardoh Abdulsalam, has been panicking after he went missing on his way to work in the Ginti area of Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Mutardoh, who worked as a mechanic at Ginti, Ijede, left his home around 8am but did not return to his family.

Worried by the development, his family members, while searching for his whereabouts, visited his workplace where the victim’s boss and colleagues said Mutardoh never showed up at work.

Mutardoh’s mother, Idayatu, who spoke to our correspondent on Monday, said a cleric informed her that her son had been allegedly kidnapped. Read more

Family demands justice for breadwinner killed by community security (Sun)

The family of Mr. Edward Ekecareah who died as a result of stabbing by a man identified as Godspower, a suspected member of OSPAC, a local vigilance group, in Chococho community, in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, has demanded for justice.

The incident occurred last week Tuesday, following a disagreement between the victim and a woman that engaged him (Edward) in a menial job.

Daugther of the deceased, Joy Edward, on Wednesday, disclosed that they were also in need of

help because they had lost their breadwinner.

Joy lamented: “My dad worked for a particular woman last week Saturday. So, the woman told him that she had just half of the money which was N6,500. The work is supposed to be N12,000.

“The woman gave him N6,500 remaining N5,500. And the woman told him that she would give you the balance on Sunday.

“My Dad called the woman on Sunday she did not pick. He called her on Monday, she did not pick. So, when he came back from work on Tuesday, he decided to go to the woman’s place to demand the money, since she was not picking his calls. Read more

Robbers attack banks in Kogi (Leadership)

Suspected over 20 armed robbers yesterday attacked some commercial banks in Ankpa, Kogi State.

The robbers allegedly operated for one and half hours in the town, which is the headquarters of Ankpa local government area

Sources in the town informed LEADERSHIP that the robbers arrived the area in three vehicles while others were on motorcycles.

It was gathered that they entered Ankpa through the eastern flank, blocked all exit routes and operated uninterrupted.

Sources said the police station in the town was earlier attacked by the robbers on their way to the affected banks with heavy gunshots.

“After robbing the banks for about an hour, they drove violently out of Ankpa with unending gunshots. They left Ankpa through Okpo in Olamaboro local government area, but nobody knows their destination as the shots were too heavy for the police to confront,” one of the sources said.

Peter Straub, a bestselling novelist who co-authored two beloved books with Stephen King, has died at the age of 79.

Straub’s daughter, Emma Straub, also a novelist, confirmed the news Tuesday on her Instagram account.

According to The New York Times, his wife, Susan Straub, said his death was caused by complications from breaking a hip. He died at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

Fellow writers and collaborators have been mourning the author’s death on social media, including Neil Gaiman, who was one of the first to express his sadness at Straub’s death (“Always kind, funny, irascible, brilliant,” Gaiman said). Read more

One third of Pakistan has been engulfed by flooding. Pakistani authorities are battling to stop their biggest lake from overflowing. France 24’s correspondents Shazaib Wahlah and Sonia Ghezali report from Sindh province.

This is the worst flooding in the history of Pakistan.

Hundreds of villages are now underwater. More than 1,300 people have died as a result of the flooding, the majority of them women and children. Some 33 million people have been affected by the flooding.

Former Real Madrid star James Rodriguez has reportedly agreed a loan move to Galatasaray, who would become the ninth club of his career.

Tyson Fury delivers fight date ultimatum ahead of Anthony Joshua clash (Express)

Tyson Fury has rejected Anthony Joshua’s December 17 fight date request and has countered it with two alternative offers. The Gypsy King affirmed that he will only stage the contest on November 26 at Wembley Stadium or on December 3 in Cardiff.

Fury offered Joshua a shot at his WBC title at the back end of this year after Oleksandr Usyk confirmed he would be out of action until 2023. The challenge was verbally accepted by AJ and an official proposal was sent out by Frank Warren the next day.

All of the terms were accepted with the exception of the date which was originally given as November 12. AJ’s team countered with the request to push it back one month to December 17 but that has since been denied by Fury.

4 female drivers given F3 tests as part of diversity plan (PlanetF1)

Four female drivers will be given an F3 test in Formula 3 later this month as part of an ongoing plan to boost diversity.

W Series drivers Abbi Pulling, Chloe Chambers and Tereza Babickova, alongside Formula 4 and Formula Regional driver Hamda Al Qubaisi will take to the track at  Magny-Cours, France on September 16 and 17.

It is the second time that a test like this has been run and is part of a larger diversity plan to give better access to more female drivers.

Each driver will be testing for a full day, with two cars on track per day, with the aim to introduce them to the category, its car and different set-ups, along with the demands and challenges of its environment. Read more

“I will be ready in December” AJ responds to Fury (Sky)

Anthony Joshua says he would be ready to fight Tyson Fury ‘in December’ after the WBC champion proposed a “Battle of Britain” heavyweight clash.

Talks had begun to match Fury, the WBC titlist, with Oleksandr Usyk, the Ukrainian who beat Joshua last month to defend the unified WBO, WBA and IBF belts, in an undisputed heavyweight championship fight. 

But it has emerged that Usyk will not be able to box again this year. It leaves Fury looking for an opponent. He wants to be former champion Joshua next.
