The Tripartite Committee constituted by the Federal Government on National Minimum Wage has concluded negotiation with a recommendation of N62,000 as monthly minimum wage for civil servants.
The recommendation was disclosed late Friday night after a marathon meeting of the committee in Abuja.
LEADERSHIP reports that while the federal government and the Organised Private Sector (OPS) agreed on the N62,000 offer as the new National Minimum Wage, the Organized Labour has rejected the offer, insisting on a N250,000 figure. Read more
Let every governor decide minimum wage for his state – Okupe (Channels)
A former presidential aide, Doyin Okupe, has faulted the national minimum wage Act which mandates governors of all the Nigerian 36 states to pay a uniform minimum wage to the workers in their various states.
Okupe, who was a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, said all governors should be allowed to decide on their own the amount they can pay.

The University of Lagos, UNILAG, has stopped admission into two departments, namely Biochemistry and Petroleum & Gas Engineering.
This was contained in a statement endorsed by the Registrar, Mrs Olakunle Makinde.
