Labourer dies in Lagos church soakaway (Punch)
A labourer identified simply as Dogo has died after falling into a septic tank belonging to a church in Badore, Ajah area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that the incident happened on Friday when the deceased victim was engaged by the leadership of the church to work on the premises.
A source in the area told The PUNCH that the the middle-aged worker had started doing his job when one of those residing on the premises of the church could no longer sight him on the spot. Read more
25 killed as gunmen attack Benue Communities (Tribune)
Unknown gunmen attacked Imande Mbakange and other neighbouring communities in the Mbacher council ward in Katsina-Ala local government area of Benue State.
No fewer than 25 people were reportedly killed, many people were reportedly injured and several houses were burnt down by the attackers.
According to a native from one of the affected communities, the attackers rode into the communities on motorcycles early hours of Saturday. Read more

Gunmen Attack: Yahaya Bello escapes death (Guardian)
The Convoy of the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello was on Saturday blocked and attacked by people believed to be supporters of Alh. Muritala Yakubu Ajaka.
The incident which occured at about 12.30 hours left many people injured.
According to a statement issued by Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, the attack took place near the Naval Base, few kilometres from Lokoja.
Fanwo noted that the convoy of Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, having sighted that of the Governor, blocked the road and Ajaka’s armed thugs started shooting sporadically at the convoy of the Governor. Read more

A biopic of President Bola Tinubu, titled “Last Man Standing”, will premiere in Lagos on June 12.
Ultimate Communications’ Managing Director, Seun Oloketuyi, announced that a biographical movie titled, “Last Man Standing” showcases Tinubu’s life as a governor of Lagos State.

Several months after Adidas ended its partnership with rapper Kanye West, the company is releasing some of its Yeezy sneakers in an effort to sell off remaining inventory from its now-defunct partnership with West.
West, now known as Ye, partnered with Adidas for almost 10 years, until the athletic apparel and footwear brand ended its partnership with him in October 2022, halting the sale of West’s popular Yeezy sneakers due to his antisemitic remarks.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the remaining inventory of Adidas Yeezy sneakers is worth more than $1 billion.

Russia says Ukrainian artillery fire kills 4 on border regions (VOA)
The governor of Russia’s Belgorod region said four people were killed Friday in two separate Ukrainian shelling attacks on towns near the border, while officials in nearby regions reported overnight drone attacks.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on Telegram that shelling had struck the town of Maslova Pristan, some 15 kilometers from Ukraine’s northern Kharkiv region, and that fragments had struck passing cars.
“Two women were traveling in one of them. They died from their injuries on the spot,” he said.
Gladkov later said two people had been killed and six injured when rockets hit the town of Sobolevska, 125 kilometers to the southeast of the first incident. The victims had been standing outside close to residential buildings, he said. Read more

Tiger Woods’ ex-girlfriend, Erica Herman, is refusing to back down in their contentious post-breakup legal fight — in which she has accused him of sexual harassment.
Her lawyer on Wednesday filed a request with a Florida state court to reconsider its ruling that Herman’s legal battle with Woods should be resolved through private arbitration rather than in public court, according to USA Today.
