Police arrest four notorious ‘armed robbers’ in Lagos (Nation)
The police in Lagos have arrested four suspected armed robbers alleged to have terrorised residents of Igando.
The suspects were arrested at Egan following a manhunt for them by detectives led by Igando Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Taiwo Kasumu.
It was gathered that one of the suspects identified as Oseni Waheed, 32, was first apprehended on Saturday and a locally made gun recovered from him. Read more
Man allegedly punches pregnant woman in the face (Punch)
A 35-year-old man, Olatunji, who allegedly punched a pregnant woman in the face, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Olatunji, whose address was not given, is charged with two counts of assault occasioning harm and threatening violence.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Donjour Perezi told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 8 around 4: 00 p.m. at Alapere in Ketu area of Lagos. Read more
Woman ‘kills’ lover for not funding daughter’s party (Nation)
Homicide detectives have arrested a 23-year-old woman Stella Peter for allegedly stabbing her live-in lover to death for refusing to finance their daughter’s one-year birthday party.
The incident occurred Tuesday morning at 2, Tejuosho Avenue, Surulere where they have lived for three years.
It was gathered that Peter, a native of Kogi State, had an argument with her Niger State partner identified as Bala Haruna, 25, early on Tuesday following his inability to raise N30,000 for their daughter’s birthday on Tuesday. Read more
Murder suspect, ‘cultist’ arrested (Nation)
The police in Lagos have arrested 23-year-old Kehinde Bakare alleged to be the prime suspect in the murder of a hotel worker Samuel Ladejo last October.
Ladejo was stabbed in the chest on October 1, last year, while on his way to a party in Ikoyi.
The victim was rushed to the Island General Hospital but died while receiving treatment. Read more
Police intercept Marijuana laden van, arrest car ‘snatchers’ (Nation)
The police in Lagos Tuesday intercepted a van carrying 20 bags of substances suspected to be Marijuana.
The van was intercepted at about 2am on Monday along Lekki-Epe Expressway by operatives attached to Area J command.
It was gathered that the operatives arrested the driver identified as Usman Adeyemi, 27, a resident of 16, Itafaji Street, Lagos Island. Read more
Police arrest ‘fake’ EFCC official in Lagos (Nation)
The police in Lagos have arrested a 29-year-old man Emeka Emmanuel alleged to have impersonated the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Emmanuel was arrested on Saturday morning at Iyana-Iba in Ojo for allegedly defrauding innocent people under the guise of providing jobs for them at the EFCC.
Police said the suspect was found with a fake EFCC identity card in his possession which he allegedly used to deceive his victims. Read more
Wife docked for allegedly photographing husband without permission (Nation)
A 33-year-old woman, Adeola Anofojie, who allegedly took photographs of her husband without his permission, was on Thursday docked before an Ogudu Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Anofojie is facing charges of causing breach of peace and disorderliness.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Donjour Perezi, said that the defendant committed the offences on May 23 in the court premises. Read more
Court sentences ex-convict to 6 months in prison for stealing car battery (Nation)
An Ajegunle Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday sentenced a 20-year-old ex-convict, Adisa Ojo, to six-months imprisonment for stealing a truck battery valued at N65,000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Joy Olorunfemi, sentenced the convict to six-months imprisonment without an option of fine.
Olorunfemi said that the convict had previously been arraigned and sentenced to 30 hours of community service by her on another charge of stealing in January. Read more
Businessman docked over alleged N14m “spiritual” scam (Nation)
A 32-year-old businessman, Chinedu Okoye, who allegedly obtained N14 million from a man to solve his “spiritual problems”, on Monday appeared in an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Okoye is charged with conspiracy, obtaining under false pretences and perverting the cause of justice, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Ingobo Emby, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between March 1 and April 24, at Plot 3508, Dominic Obiajiku St., Devine Estate, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos. Read more
