How father drugged, molested 12-year-old daughter – Doctor (Punch)
A medical practitioner, Alagbe Oyedeji, on Tuesday, explained to a Lagos State Special Offences Court how a 37-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Emmanuel Igboko, allegedly drugged and molested his 12-year-old daughter.
Igboko is standing trial before Justice Sybril Nwaka on the charge of sexual assault by penetration.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Igboko allegedly committed the offence at his residence, No. 35 Akewusola Street in the Oworonshoki area of Lagos State. Read more
Yahoo boy cuts lover’s tongue after fleecing her N2m (Vanguard)
The police in Lagos have arrested a self-confessed Yahoo boy (fraudster) for cutting his supposed lover’s tongue in an attempt to kill her after hipnotizing and defrauding her of over N2 million.
Recounting her ordeal on Wednesday in Lagos, the victim said she became hipnotized after she was forced to wear the suspect’s underpants not knowing he had used same for rituals.
According to her, the suspect conspired with her neighbour and others at large to perpetrate the evil act against her. Read more
Chef arrested for allegedly killing lawyer in Lagos hotel (Punch)
A chef, Joshua Usulor, has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly killing a 34-year-old lawyer, Feyitayo Obot, who came to Lagos for a business meeting and lodged at a hotel in Opebi, Ikeja area of the state.
Usulor, in a bid to get money to clear his outstanding indebtedness to the hotel, allegedly sneaked into Obot’s room and in the process of robbing her, killed the lawyer.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, said investigation into Obot’s murder led to the arrest of Usulor, who ran away from the hotel premises after perpetrating the crime. Read more
Unemployed man steals phones, cash (Nation)
An unemployed man, Paul Samuel, was on Tuesday brought before a Lagos High Court for allegedly stealing phones and a wallet containing N27, 000 from a road user, at gunpoint.
Prosecutor Yusuf Sule said the defendant committed the offence on December 24, 2016, at about 9pm, at Bayoff, Ishashi, Lagos.
He alleged that the defendant conspired with another person, who is at large and robbed Mr. Benjamin Amiame of three phones, a gold necklace, a wallet containing N27, 000, identity card and an automated teller machine (ATM) card. Read more
Tenant gets N20, 000 bail for knocking landlord’s tooth out (Punch)
An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday slammed a N20,000 bail on a tenant, Emmanuel Nwachukwu, who allegedly punched his landlord, Mr. Sanusi Ishola in the mouth and broke his front tooth during an argument.
Magistrate M. I. Dan-Oni, in a ruling, ordered the 32-year-old to produce one surety in like sum.
The prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the defendant punched Mr. Ishola in the mouth and broke his incisor during an argument. Read more
Driver sent to prison for defiling girl, 10 (Nation)
An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a 42-year-old driver, Omoruyi Aderemilekun, in Kirikiri Prisons allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.
Magistrate B. O. Osunsanmi declined to take the defendant’s plea, pending advice by Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Prosecuting Inspector Raphael Donny said the defendant committed the offence on January 21 at 263, Ijesha Road, Ijeshatedo, Surulere, Lagos. Read more
Courts remand three for assaulting Ikeja Electric workers (Punch)
A middle-aged man, Abiodun Makinde, has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, for allegedly beating up a worker of a power distribution company, Ikeja Electric, Oluwaseun Onate, while performing his duties on Aberuagaba Street in the Oshodi area of the state.
Punch Metro gathered that Onate was effecting a disconnection order on customers who defaulted in the payment of their bills when Makinde reportedly attacked him.
Makinde, who was said to have fled the scene of the attack, was later arrested at his hideout following an organised search by operatives of the command. Read more
Woman in court for allegedly slapping ex-stepmother over refusal to leave father’s house (Punch)
A 28-year-old woman, Amaka Okolie, who allegedly slapped her ex-stepmother and destroyed her necklace worth N190, 000 during an argument on Monday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court
Okolie, whose lives at No. 4 Taiwo St., Mafoluku in Oshodi, Lagos, is charged with two counts of assault and wilful damage but pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecution alleged that the defendant slapped her ex-stepmother, Mrs Ngozi Okolie, willfully tore her dress and cut her gold necklace valued at N190, 000, during an argument over the complainant’s refusal to leave her father’s apartment. Read more
EFCC arraigns Lagos prophetess for defrauding company of N503m (Punch)
A Lagos-based prophetess, Linda Mabi-Praise, has been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly defrauding a company of N503.3m in an alleged Automotive Gas Oil deal.
Mabi-Praise, who is said to be a prophetess at the Temple of Praise Church on Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere, Lagos, was arraigned before a Lagos State Special Offences Court on eight counts bordering on stealing, obtaining under false pretences and issuance of dud cheques.
Mabi-Praise and her company, Mutano Energy Limited, according to the EFCC prosecutor, Frank Ofoma, committed the offences sometime in 2017 in Lagos. Read more
Three ‘abduct, rape teenager for four days’ (Nation)
An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded Emmanuel Abdon, Victor Talofari and Leonard Justice, following their arraignment for allegedly abducting and raping a 16-year-old girl.
They will be in prison, pending advice by Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
