Motorist charged with killing LAWMA sweeper (Nation)
A middle-aged mechanic, Chukwudi Nwite, on Tuesday appeared at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly killing a 32-year-old sweeper with the Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA).
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of reckless driving and manslaughter.

Lover, others ‘attempt to kill’ UK-based partner (Nation)
A 27-year-old man, Emmanuel Anikwe, on Tuesday appeared before an Ogba Magistrates’ Court for allegedly poisoning his United Kingdom (UK)-based lover, Prof Alexia Thomas.
Emmanuel, the professor’s cook, Priscilla Okogba, 26, and Uche Ogbonnaya, 43, are standing trial before Chief Magistrate Olufunke Sule-Amzat.
The prosecutor, Nosa Uhumwangho, said the defendants committed the offence with others at large, on June 19, at 37, Ahmed Onibudo Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. Read more
Teacher arraigned for ‘caning’ pupil in Lagos (Nation)
Sare Olaleye, a 33-year-old secondary school teacher in Lagos, was on Monday arraigned at an Ogba Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly caning a 16-year-old Senior Secondary School pupil and badly injuring his right eye.
Olaleye, a resident of 22, Kokumo Street, County bus stop, Ogba, Lagos pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault.

Man steals at police station (Nation)
25-year-old man, Rilwan Adebayo, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N62,000 from a policewoman.
He pleaded not guilty.

Suspected ATM card thief arraigned (Nation)
21-year-old man, Raphael Asogbo, was on Wednesday arraigned at a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card and N21,000 cash.
He pleaded not guilty.

Travel agent arraigned for alleged N2.7m visa fraud (Nation)
The Police in Lagos on Wednesday arraigned a Travel Agent, Oluwasegun Gbeleye, 34, before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged N2.7 million Australian visa fraud.
Gbeleye, whose address was not provided, appeared before the court on a four-count charge of conspiracy, forgery, fraud and stealing.

Four remanded for ‘murder’ (Nation)
An Ebute-Meta Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded four men in Ikoyi Prisons following their arraignment for allegedly conspiring to beat up a man to death.
Chief Magistrate O.O. Olatunji remanded them pending advice by Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions.
Wasiu Wahab, 28; Yusuf Adebayo, 28; Ramoni Ibrahim, 28; and Yusuf Adegbite, 25, were arraigned on a temporary two-count charge of conspiracy and murder. Read more
Agent ‘dupes’ house seekers of N16m (Nation)
An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a 59-year-old estate agent, Joseph Olatunji, in prison for allegedly defrauding 46 accommodation seekers of N16 million.
Magistrate Bukola Mogaji did not take the defendant’s plea after arraignment by the police.
