Lagos monarch, others for arraignment over alleged N29m fraud (Punch)

The Federal High Court in Lagos, on Tuesday, fixed June 26, 2024, for the arraignment of a Lagos monarch, Monsuru Abimbola Oladega, and six others over alleged N29.3m fraud.

Other defendants in the charge marked FHC/L/80c/2024 are Abdulfatai Akinwale Bankole, Abubakar Seriki, Razak Alayaki Seriki, Mrs Jemilatu Busari, Amoda Ibrahim and Adams Adebiyi.

The defendants will be arraigned on four counts bordering on conspiracy, obtaining, fraud, and retaining preferred against them by the Police Special Fraud Unit. Read more

Police arrest fake medical doctor in Lagos (Punch)

The Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos, has arrested a 37-year-old fake medical doctor and practitioner, with suspected forged certificates.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the zone, Olatoye Durosinmi, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday while parading the suspect before newsmen in Lagos.

Durosinmi said that operatives of the Zonal Anti-Piracy Unit arrested the suspect, who claimed to be the Managing Director of Skylink Medical Centre in Ikorodu. Read more

EFCC re-arraigns bizman over alleged N84m fraud (Punch)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday re-arraigned a businessman, Adrian Ididia, over his alleged involvement in N84m fraud.

Ididia was re-arraigned before Justice Ismail Ijelu of the Lagos State High Court, in Ikeja.

The defendant was sometime in November 2021 first arraigned before Justice Serifat Solebo, now retired, and he was granted bail. Read more

Police begin manhunt for fleeing tricycle-snatching syndicate (Punch)

Following the arrest of one Samson Cletus, a suspected tricycle snatcher, the Lagos State Police Command says it has begun a manhunt for other fleeing members of the syndicate.

The police, in a statement by the state’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, and obtained by PUNCH Metro on Monday, disclosed that Cletus was arrested when members of the public alerted the police patrol team to suspicious activities around a tricycle.

Upon sighting the police, members of the syndicate were said to have attempted to flee with the tricycle but Cletus was apprehended by the police while others escaped. Read more

Mother demands justice over daughter’s alleged defilement (Punch)

A woman, Rita Ebirim, has demanded justice following the alleged defilement of her five-year-old daughter by her brother-in-law in Lagos.

The distraught mother, who spoke with our correspondent on Friday, explained that her estranged husband had filed a divorce on August 2, 2022, and while waiting for the trial, she was ordered by the court to allow the father to have access to their daughter.

Ebirim explained that her daughter was defiled during her second visit to her father by his brother. Read more

Police grill Mohbad’s ally, Darosha over singer’s death (Punch)

Boluwatife Adeyemo aka Darosha who was the Personal Assistant to the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, has been interrogated by the Nigeria Police Force.

PUNCH Online learnt that Darosha visited the Zone 2 Command headquarters on Thursday following a police invitation.

Also present at the meeting were Mohbad’s mother, Abosede and his father, Joseph.

Police stumble on drug den after Lagos market fracas (Punch)

The Lagos State Police Command on Thursday said it stumbled on a drug den during its operation in the Ile-Epo market in the Oke-Odo area of Lagos State following clashes between youths and hoodlums.

Our correspondent who was at the market on Thursday learnt that many people were injured after hoodlums and some traders clashed in the market over bet money. Over 50 suspects linked to the clashes were apprehended, and the shanties they occupied were demolished, effectively dislodging them from their illicit activities.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said that in an attempt to dislodge the hoodlums, the law enforcement officers stumbled upon a hidden drug den that had been operating in plain sight. Read more

Lagos police identify officer who shot man dead during fuel queue tumult (Punch)

The Lagos State Police Command said it has identified the police officer who shot a young man, Toheeb Eniafe, at a petrol station on Wednesday.

This was made known in a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin on Thursday.

Police raid criminal hideouts, arrest 40 suspects in Lagos (Nation)

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Police Command in Lagos State have raided hideouts of criminals in the Yaba area and arrested 40 suspects.

Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesman of the command, confirmed the arrest in a post he shared on his verified X handle @benHundeyin, yesterday.

The spokesman said the operatives arrested the suspects at 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Read more
