Lagos postpones Third Mainland Bridge repairs

The Lagos State Government has decided to delay the much-anticipated rehabilitative works on the Third Mainland Bridge. Initially scheduled for two consecutive Sundays, September 17 and 24, from 7 am to 7 pm, these repairs have been postponed due to heavy rainfall across the metropolis.

Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, made this announcement on Saturday, citing the adverse impact of the rain on the preliminary stages of the planned asphalt pavement repairs by the Lagos State Public Works Corporation.

The decision to postpone these repairs came just a day after the state government declared its intention to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing for repair works on the deteriorating sections of the bustling Third Mainland Bridge.

Motorists are urged to remain vigilant and adhere to safety measures while using the bridge, with a promise that a new date for the much-needed repairs will be communicated in the near future, subject to weather conditions.
