Lagos residents back Joshua to beat Ruiz (Punch)

Residents in Lagos State have taken to the social media to commend the visitation of heavyweight former champion Anthony Joshua to Makoko.

The residents, who prayed for Joshua’s triumph in his planned rematch against Andy Ruiz, reacted when the British boxer posted an image of his visit to Makoko on Saturday to inspire children in the area.

The image, which shows Joshua amidst residents in the area, was captioned “sons of the soil”.

One of them, Oluwabusayo, while replying to Joshua’s post, said, “Look at the faces around, you fight for us all. Every landed punch, every knockdown bring the much-needed pride and inspiration to our hearts. We are proud of you.” Read more
