The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, popularly known as the Lagos Task Force, has impounded 668 motorcycles during a week-long enforcement exercise across the state.

The operation, led by the agency’s Chairman, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Adetayo Akerele, covered several flashpoints, including Ishaga, Balogun Bus Stop on Iju-Ishaga Road, Ijegun Roundabout, Iyana-Iba, Iyana-Ishasi, Igbo-Elerin, Iyana-School, Volkswagen Bus Stop on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, and Kola Bus Stop on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

According to the agency’s Director of Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the targeted areas were flagged following numerous complaints and distress calls over the persistent use of motorcycles, popularly known as Okada, by hoodlums and suspected criminals to attack commuters, tricycle operators and their passengers, particularly at night.
