Lagos State Government on Tuesday, commenced a technical test run of the much-expected Lagos redline rail system with full operations set for the end of September 2024.
Director, Rail Transportation, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA, Olasunkanmi Okusaga, disclosed this on Tuesday, at a media parley at Ikeja.
It was organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, led by the state Commissioner, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi.
Mr. Okusaga said the sub-system integration, which involves testing, coaches, and personnel, among others is ready to kick off at 99%.
“Barring all other factors, we are ready to kick off operations of redline by the end of September 2024, subject to final certification by the contractor engaged,” he stated.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu, on February 29, inaugurated the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit, LRMT, Red Line project, a 37-kilometre project expected to reduce travel time and improve transportation. (Vanguard)
