Lagos to commence e-numbering of houses to check tax evasion (Punch)
The Lagos State Government has launched the Lagos Identity Project, a digital house-numbering initiative aimed at enhancing property identification and service delivery across the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Enterprise Geographic Information System, Dr Olajide Babajide, said the initiative would significantly improve property identification and public service efficiency.
He made the remarks on Tuesday during the unveiling of the project in Alausa, Lagos. Read more
Over 40 CJTF operatives killed in Zamfara (DailyTrust)
One of Nigeria’s most notorious bandit kingpins, Kachalla Bello Turji, reportedly killed more than 40 operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in a deadly ambush in Zamfara State on Sunday.
Among the casualties were four officers from the Department of State Services (DSS) and a former bandit-turned-security informant, Bashar Maniya, who was once a rival of Turji, it was gathered.
Local sources confirmed the attack occurred near Ruggar Chida, a remote community where Turji’s father is believed to be the traditional leader. Read more
Police arrest 26 suspects over Benue massacre (Nation)
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, on Tuesday, disclosed that 26 suspects have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the massacre at Yelewata community, in Benue State.
Egbetokun disclosed this while addressing reporters at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The arrest is coming barely a week after President Bola Tinubu directed the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, to immediately arrest killer herders who perpetrated the heinous killing of over 100 people in Yelewata community in Benue State. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has condemned the Killing of travelling wedding guests in Plateau State penultimate weekend.

Adamawa Govt revokes Atiku’s Waziri title over indigeneship policy (Vanguard)
The Adamawa State Government has formally revoked the prestigious traditional title of Waziri Adamawa previously held by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, citing a new indigeneship policy affecting emirate council leadership.
The decision was communicated in a circular dated June 20, 2025, and signed by Mrs. Adama Felicity Mamman, Permanent Secretary of the Department of Chieftaincy Affairs. The directive is part of a broader restructuring of traditional institutions following the recent creation of new chiefdoms under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration.
Traditionally considered the second highest-ranking figure in the Adamawa Emirate after the Lamido, the Waziri Adamawa title now falls under new eligibility criteria which stipulate that only indigenes from Yola South, Yola North, Girei, Mayo-Belwa, Song, and Zumo districts can hold emirate council positions or titles. Atiku, a native of Jada Local Government Area, which is part of the Ganye Chiefdom, is thus disqualified. Read more
Lagos announces 110-day traffic diversion for Ogudu-Ifako bridge repairs (Guardian)
The Lagos State Government has announced that repair work on the Ogudu/Ifako Bridge will begin on Saturday, June 28, and continue until Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
The maintenance will span 110 days and be carried out in eight phases across both carriageways.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Transportation, the first four phases will focus on the inbound Alapere section of the bridge and will run from June 28 to August 16. The remaining four phases, addressing the inbound Oworonshoki lane, will commence immediately after, from August 16 to October 5. Read more

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team rested their case in his sex trafficking trial on Tuesday after making arguments for only about 20 minutes.
Their short presentation followed nearly seven weeks of arguments and witness testimony brought by federal prosecutors in New York. The prosecution finished making their case Tuesday afternoon.
His defence attorneys argued that the government has failed to meet the burden in proving any of the charges against him, which he’s vehemently denied, and the judge should drop the case against him. Read more

U2 guitarist The Edge has spent more than six decades living in Ireland. The country is as home to him as any place can be, especially now that has become an actual citizen there. On Monday, the musician, born David Howell Evans in Essex, was granted Irish citizenship. “I guess, you know, I’m a little tardy with the paper work. I’ve been living in Ireland now since I was one year old,” he said, per the Journal. “But the time is right. Visitor damages Uffizi painting while posing for photo (CNN)
A visitor has damaged a 17th-century painting at the Uffizi Galleries in Florence after stumbling back into it while posing for a photo, the museum told CNN in a statement.
The visitor was visiting the world-famous museum on Saturday when he accidentally damaged a portrait of Tuscan prince Ferdinando de’ Medici, which was painted some time around 1695-1700 by Anton Domenico Gabbiani, the museum said on Monday.
In widely circulated security camera footage of the incident, a man can be seen posing in front of the oil painting before leaning back and then quickly jumping up as he realises he touched it. Read more

Nigeria’s Nathaniel Ezekiel has been named the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Track Athlete of the Year to cap off a dominant collegiate season with Baylor University which has now earned him one of the most prestigious honours in American college athletics, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The honour was announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association following a vote by NCAA member coaches on Monday and Ezekiel becomes only the second athlete in Baylor’s history to receive the award, joining Olympic gold medallist Jeremy Wariner who last won it in 2004.
The Delta State-born athlete won the national title in the men’s 400m hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon earlier this month, clocking a personal record of 47.49s. Read more

Emma Raducanu has issued a response after her stalker was caught trying to buy Wimbledon tickets four months after his restraining order.
The British star, 22, was approached by a fixated man at the Dubai Tennis Championships earlier this year – including when she was alone in a public café – where she was handed a personal letter and photographed.
Raducanu then spotted the same individual in the crowd during her match against Karolina Muchova, which resulted in Raducanu breaking down in tears and hiding behind the umpire’s chair before he was kicked out. Read more
