A landlord, Benjamin Apeh, reportedly died after he collapsed during an argument with his tenant over unpaid rent.
SP Omolola Odutola, the Public Relations Officer, Police Command, Ogun, in a statement on Tuesday in Abeokuta, said the incident occurred on Sunday at Arigbabu Village, Sotubo in Sagamu local government area of Ogun.
Odutola said that a suspected murder case was reported on Monday at 5:00 p.m., by the daughter of the deceased, Precious Apeh. Read more
EFCC cracks down on Tongyi Group over alleged money laundering violations (Vanguard)
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has sealed off Tongyi Group, a construction and mining company located in Jabi, Abuja, for alleged non-compliance with Anti-Money Laundering/Combating Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) regulations.
The Special Control Unit against Money Laundering (SCUML) of the EFCC took the action on Tuesday, after the company failed to heed repeated warnings to comply with the AML/CFT regime.
SCUML officers shut down the company’s premises and pasted a notice of non-compliance on the door, warning the public to beware of doing business with the company. Read more

Former Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has denied social media reports that he was molested and had an altercation with the army somewhere in Obingwa, describing it as false.
He, instead, commended the officers and men of the Nigerian Army for being professional in their engagement with the civil populace.
Abaribe, in a statement by his Media Adviser, Uchenna Awom, described as “laughable, the false report that soldiers humbled and delayed me at a checkpoint while returning from a burial in Obingwa, last Thursday.” He stated, rather, that soldiers at the said checkpoint were very courteous and professional in carrying out their duties. 2 killed as explosion rocks Rivers (DailyTrust)
Two persons have been confirmed dead after a tanker suspected to be carrying Liquefied Natural Gas (LPG) exploded at the Obiri-Ikwerre flyover along the East-West on the outskirts of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
It was gathered that the explosion occurred at about 9:25am after the tanker skidded off while trying to negotiate the bypass on the flyover and went up in flames, trapping a saloon car with two occupants.
An eyewitness said, “My office is close by. It was a terrible sight. Two persons inside a saloon car parked nearby were burnt beyond recognition. The tanker was trying to negotiate through the flyover when it fell and exploded.” Read more

The House voted Tuesday to impose sanctions against the International Criminal Court for its move to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials for war crimes in the nation’s war against Hamas.
The vote was 247-155, with nearly every Republican and a few dozen Democrats voting for it. Two Republicans voted present.
The sanctions bill is unlikely to get a vote in the Democratic-controlled Senate, however. Though President Joe Biden called the ICC’s actions “outrageous,” his administration said in a statement Monday it “strongly opposes” the bill to sanction the court. Read more

Kīlauea erupted in a region that had not seen lava flow in nearly a half-century – despite being Hawaii’s most active volcanoes.
The Kīlauea volcano spewed lava from fissures about a mile south of its caldera starting around 12.30am local time on Monday, according to US Geological Survey’s (USGS) Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
Webcams picked up a glow which signaled that the lava flow was in a section within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park that last experienced an eruption in 1974. Read more

Red Bull Racing has announced that it has awarded a two-year contract extension to Sergio Perez, a deal that will see the Mexican race alongside Max Verstappen until the end of the 2026 season.
