The UK’s fracking site in Blackpool has been hit by the largest ever tremor recorded at the facility – the third earthquake at the site in just four days.
A tremor measuring 2.1 magnitude was registered last night at 11.01pm at the site of energy firm Caudrilla.
This was the third tremor in four days to hit the shale gas exploration site in Preston New Road following a 1.55 magnitude tremor on Wednesday and a weaker one on Friday night measuring 1.01.
Saturday’s tremor lasted for about one second and occurred when no fracking was taking place, according to Caudrilla. Read more
