LASEPA seals firms over noise, environmental infractions (Guardian)

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) yesterday, sealed-off numerous establishments across the state over persistent noise pollution and other environmental infractions, which threaten public health and safety.

Locations visited by the agencyโ€™s enforcement team include Apapa, Ogudu, Ojota and Alapere, targeting businesses and institutions which failed to comply with existing environmental regulations.

Other establishments affected include lounges, bars, hotels, religious centres, retail outlets, fast-food centres, motor servicing centres, and logistics companies. They were shut down for violating environmental laws. (Read more)

Police arraign man, 47, over alleged N1.1m fraud (Guardian)

The Police in Lagos, on Wednesday, brought a 47-year-old man, Sunday Nweke before a Badagry Chief Magistratesโ€™ Court over alleged N1.1 million land fraud.

The defendant, whose address is unknown, is facing a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Ayodele Adeosun, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in August, 2024, at Imeke area of Badagry, Lagos. (Read more)

Police exhume corpse of allegedly slain LASU graduate (Vanguard)

The police command in Lagos State on Wednesday exhumed the body of a 28-year-old graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), Mr Adedamola Ogunbode.

The corpse was buried in a shallow grave behind the LASU fence in its Ojo Campus.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the deceased, a Political Science Education graduate, had been missing since Jan. 16. (Read more)

Police rescue 27 kidnapped foreigners in Lagos apartment (Punch)

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have rescued 27 foreigners who were allegedly kidnapped and confined in an apartment in the Isheri Oshun area of the state.

The commandโ€™s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this during a press briefing on Monday.

According to him, a distress call was received by the Complaint Response Unit from one of the victims, who reported that she and others had been held against their will and were not allowed to leave the apartment. (Read more)

Police nab cleric, two others over ex-LASU studentโ€™s disappearance (Guardian)

The Police in Lagos have confirmed the arrest of the shepherd of the Celestial Church of Christ, LASU II Parish, Evangelist Whepetoji Babaniyeh, and two others over the missing of the former student of Lagos State University (LASU), Adedamola Ogunbode.

Spokesperson for the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the development noted that the Command had sealed the church.

He, however, did not confirm if the missing 28-year-old graduate of LASU was murdered. (Read more)

2 arrested for allegedly kidnapping online vendor in Lagos (Vanguard)

The Police Command in Lagos State has detained two suspects, for allegedly kidnapping an online vendor who came to deliver products in the Iyana-Ishashi area of the state.

The commandโ€™s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this while briefing newsmen at the commandโ€™s headquarters, in Ikeja on Monday.

He said that the victim was kidnapped while attempting to make a delivery. (Read more)

Man flees as girlfriend found dead in Lagos apartment (Punch)

A yet-to-be-identified boyfriend of a graduate of Lagos State University identified simply as Adija has absconded after his girlfriend was found dead in his apartment located in the Meiran area of the state.

PUNCH Metro gathered on Sunday that the incident occurred on February 26 when the lady visited her boyfriend following his request.

An Instagram user, @Eyeopener, who shared details of the incident in a post, disclosed that Adijaโ€™s family became concerned when she did not pick up her calls prompting them to check on her at her boyfriendโ€™s place as she had notified them of her destination. (Read more)
