The Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance, FBRA, has been commended by the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment as it embarked on a clean-up exercise at the Arena Market in Oshodi, Lagos, weekend, in commemoration of the World Clean up Day, which is celebrated September 15, every year. The initiative, which received the collaboration of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment, was organised in collaboration with Recycle Points, FBRA’s partner in the collection of plastic waste for recycling. EFCC, Customs place Fayose on watch list, to prevent foreign trip (Punch)
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has written to the Nigeria Customs Service to place the outgoing Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on its watch list and prevent the governor from leaving the country through any land, air or sea borders. The NCS has granted the request and circulated the EFCC directive to its area and zonal commands, directing that “you are to monitor the suspect and report to the EFCC through the provided contact details if sighted.” Read more

An anti-corruption advocacy group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Projects, has asked the Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole, to account for the spending of budgetary allocations to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and other Federal Government-owned health institutions in the country in the last seven years. Five killed as Boko Haram terrorists ambush troops in Borno (Punch)
Five alleged Boko Haram terrorists were shot dead on Sunday after the insurgents ambushed troops of the Nigerian Army along Bama Road in Maiduguri, Borno State. Any failed Nigerian Instant Payment transaction not reversed into the customer’s account within 24 hours, based on complaint of the sender and/or beneficiary will attract a fine of N10,000, the Central Bank of Nigeria has said. The CBN stated this in a ‘Circular on the regulation on instant inter-bank electronic funds transfer services in Nigeria’, issued to all Deposit Money Banks, microfinance banks, other financial institutions, mobile money operators, development finance institutions, payment service providers and other stakeholders. Policewoman on the run after stabbing husband multiple times (Vanguard)
A female sergeant, Folake Ogunbodede, attached to Ipaja Police Station, is currently on the run after allegedly stabbing her husband, Taiwo, multiple times at their home in Ipaja, Lagos, following a disagreement. A suspected member of a cult group, Chinedu Emenike, has confessed that he joined a cult while in the higher institution in order to secure employment after graduation. Emenike made this confession when he was paraded by the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr Anthony Ogbizi.
