Rak-Su star Myles Stephenson has claimed that Liam Payne occasionally changes his voice after a clip of him speaking after the Oscars went viral.
The โStrip That Downโ singer sparked online discussion after he was captured on video speaking about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at Sundayโs ceremony.
Weighing in on the surprising moment, Payne told Good Morning Britain: โI believe whatever he felt that he did, he had the right to do. I also felt there were three losers in one fight.โ
Yet viewers and commenters on social media were mostly intrigued by the Wolverhampton-born One Direction starโs unfamiliar accent, likening it to a variety of countries including Ireland, the Netherlands and the US.
According to Myles Stephenson, who won The X Factor as part of group Rak-Su in 2017, this was not the first time that Payneโs used a surprising voice.
During an appearance on Capital Xtraโs Tea Time podcast, he referred to the clip from the Oscarsโ red carpet and shared a memory about meeting Payne in the past.
โHeโs done that to me before,โ he told hosts Will Njobvu & Yewande Biala. โHe changes his voice. When we [Rak-Su] were on X Factor, he was performing.
โAnd after, we were walking past, he said, โHelloโ. We donโt speak with much etiquette.โHeโs come up to us and said: โYes bruv, what are you saying?โโ (Independent)
